Eligibility Criteria: Must have implemented technology-driven solutions that significantly enhance HSSE performance, demonstrated innovation in the application of technology to address HSSE challenges, showcased measurable improvements in HSSE outcomes through the use of technology, and provided evidence of the technology’s impact on workplace or community safety and sustainability.

The AfriSAFE HSSE Team of the Year Award recognizes teams that have demonstrably improved workplace health, safety, security, or wellbeing standards and performance.

Eligibility Criteria: Demonstrate impactful HSSE initiatives and activities within the award review year, leading to tangible improvements within their organization or a client’s. Showcase innovative team-driven solutions that effectively address HSSE challenges or problems. Highlight the team’s positive influence and contributions to host communities, including development programs and sponsored health and safety activities within their departmental budget.

The AfriSAFE Mining Company of the Year Award recognizes companies in the mining sector whose commitment to safety and excellent working practices has distinguished them in the industry.

Eligibility criteria: Eligible companies must demonstrate impactful CSR activities, comprehensive employee support programs, investment in staff wellbeing, effective HSE initiatives, strict adherence to industry regulations, a commendable safety record, and evidence of industry-leading safety programs and best practices.

The AfriSAFE Construction Company of the Year Award recognizes a construction company with an exemplary health and safety record, with over 10 years in construction services.

Eligibility Criteria: Entrants must explain their last construction project that ensured the health, safety, and well-being of anyone who had access to or worked on the construction site. The project must have been completed no earlier than 1 June 2024.

The AfriSAFE Manufacturing Company of the Year Award recognizes manufacturing companies that can demonstrate either an exemplary health and safety record or how they have taken significant steps to improve health and safety standards.

Eligibility Criteria: Entrants must explain how they have ensured the health, safety, and well-being of anyone who had access to or worked on their premises.

The AfriSAFE Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Year Award recognizes an organization whose corporate social responsibility had the greatest impact on promoting health, safety, and well-being. This could be through an effective public campaign in any area of Health, Safety, Environment, or sponsoring/support for HSE-related activities.

Eligibility Criteria: The CSR activities must have been between June 2024 and the present.

The AfriSAFE Training Provider of the Year Award recognizes organizations that lead the way in offering high-quality and innovative HSE training.

Eligibility criteria: Organizations are eligible if they demonstrate high quality trainers, a well-equipped training center, exceptional training delivery, positive testimonials and course evaluations from trainees, a significant impact on the HSE industry through activities like CSR and career development support, and course accreditation by both local and international professional bodies.

The AfriSAFE Food and Quality Safety Award recognizes the dedication and achievements of a food safety and/or quality assurance organization that has made exceptional contributions to upholding the highest food safety standards, supported by quantifiable results with evidence of CSR activities.

Eligibility criteria: This category is open to food processors, food services, food suppliers, and agricultural organizations within the food industry. Eligible organizations must also demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in food safety practices and have implemented innovative food safety technologies or systems.

This award recognizes organizations in the hospitality sector that have demonstrated high standards of hygiene, ensuring the physical safety of guests and staff within their organizations, or organizations that put safety considerations into designs and general operations.

Eligibility criteria: Hospitals, Hotels, and Real Estate companies with significant records are eligible for this category.

This award recognizes telecommunications organizations that demonstrate exceptional dedication, commitment, consistency, direction, and involvement in environmental health, safety, and employee well-being, benefiting their employees, the industry, and the communities they serve. Eligibility Criteria: Eligible organizations must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing robust safety, health, and sustainability programs and initiatives tailored to the telecommunications industry, measurable improvements in ESG performance, a strong commitment to community safety through relevant CSR activities or outreach programs, evidence of proactive risk management and hazard prevention strategies specific to telecommunications operations, and adherence to and exceeding relevant industry safety standards and regulations.

This award recognizes manufacturers and providers of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety solutions that demonstrate quality, innovation, and commitment to enhancing workplace safety across various industries in Africa. It celebrates those who prioritize the well-being of workers by delivering reliable, effective, and sustainable safety products and services.

Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility for the AfriSAFE Insurance Company of the Year award is contingent upon several factors: companies need at least two years of focused experience in insurance safety and risk management, and must offer innovative products addressing current challenges. The recognizes an auditing or certification company that has demonstrated excellence in providing high-quality auditing and certification services, promoting safety and compliance with regulatory standards in Africa. Eligibility Criteria: Qualifying companies for this award need a minimum of two years’ relevant experience and expertise in key standards (like ISO 45001/9001/14001), recognized accreditation, and industry acknowledgment. This award recognizes outstanding health, safety, and environmental achievements within Aviation Fueling Activities which includes the Downstream sectors of the Oil & Gas Industry across Africa, rewarding success and commitment to quality Health, Safety, and Environment. Awards focus on Aircraft Refueling activities in the Aviation Sector.

The AfriSAFE Professional of the Year Award recognizes professionals with primary responsibility for Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) who have demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, knowledge, and drive, making a substantial contribution to workplace health, safety, well-being, and security within the past year.

Eligibility criteria: Nominees must be HSSE professionals currently working in an organization and possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. Recommendation from his or her organization will be an added advantage.

The AfriSAFE Journalist of the Year Award recognizes outstanding journalistic work in print, radio, television, and digital formats that covers critical issues in public health and safety, or instances of regulatory failure related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).

Eligibility Criteria: The winning article, news story, or column must be newsworthy, thoroughly investigated, and succinctly cover salient issues within the HSE industry. The grand winner of this category will receive a seed amount; runners-up will be eligible for product support to enhance their reporting in the field. Works submitted must have been initially published or transmitted by an African media outlet between June 2024 and the present.

This award recognizes early to mid-career professionals who demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in safety and have effectively raised awareness through various health, safety, and environmental initiatives, thereby positively impacting their sphere of influence.

Eligibility Criteria: Eligible nominees are individuals who have been at the forefront of promoting safety awareness through activities such as community engagement and social media. The qualifying period for these activities is from June 2024 to the present.

This award honors experienced fire officials with over 15 years of service who have dedicated themselves to saving lives and property through the development of codes, fire-prevention practices, and leadership techniques.

Eligibility Criteria: Eligible nominees, working for a local or public fire department or another organization, must have consistently developed creative educational programs and materials for their community and demonstrated excellence and innovation in outreach to the local and broader community.

This Award recognizes a Health, safety, sustainability, and/or security Manager who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the implementation or improvement of any area of health, safety, security, and well-being standards within their organization.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for this award, the nominee must have played a key role in enhancing HSE standards across the group, overseen at least three HSE managers, provided a required recommendation letter from their company, displayed strong leadership qualities, communication skills, commitment, and enthusiasm in their role, successfully led HSE projects or initiatives, and achieved quantifiable success in their HSE endeavors.
